Milenio Sports today confirmed that it has signed contracts with the Turkish Football Federation and Football Association of Ireland to play an A  international friendly match at Aviva Stadium, Dublin on Sunday May 25th.
The Republic of Ireland has faced Turkey 12 times in its history, recording five wins, six draws and one defeat. Irish fans will recall the 1999 heartache of playing Turkey in the play offs for EURO 2000, starting with a 1-1 draw in Lansdowne Road and ending in a 0-0 draw in Bursa, allowing Turkey to go through on the away goals rule at the expense of Mick McCarthy’s men.
The match will form part of Martin O’Neill’s preparations for the EURO2016 campaign starting with the upcoming friendly on March 5 in against Serbia and followed by Turkey on May 25th
