Czech Republic seal excellent 2-0 win in Manisa against Turkey.
Goals in the first half hour from Sparta Prague duo Ladislav Krejčí and David Lafata sealed a fine 2-0 win for Michal Bilek’s Czech Republic team against a Turkish side roared on by a capacity 17,500 attendance watching their national team for the first time in Manisa in this Milenio Sports friendly ‘A’ International Match.
The result sends Czech Republic full of confidence into their critical FIFA World Cup Group B Qualification fixtures next month against Denmark & Armenia .
Turkey will take encouragement from the number of opportunities they created in the second half of the game and will hope to bring their end of game form into their own key FIFA World Cup qualification games next month against Andorra and Romania in Group D.
For the Turkish Football Federation (founded in 1923 and celebrating its 90th year) this was an historic occasion with the national team taking the field in Manisa for the first time. The historical importance of the fixture was reflected in the superb organisation of the event in all aspects by the Turkish Football Federation, Manisaspor Football Club, Turkish Sports Ministry and the City Council of Manisa.
